NBL Abroad: Hawks Captain Drives Tight Win

Just because the NBL is in its off-season, it doesn't mean the best players in the league are resting on their laurels and taking a break.

Stars of the Australian domestic competition are now competing all over the globe and getting important reps in ahead of NBL24.

Illawarra Hawks co-captain experienced a breakout game in the Japanese B. League, and dropped 27 points in a narrow win over Gunma CT.

The Australian centre has now played 12 games for Hokkaido and, ahead of the match-winning performance, had only scored in double-digits once.

He also added nine rebounds and three steals in the three point win and hit almost 60 per cent of his shots – including both of his three-point attempts.

South East Melbourne centre Alan Williams also continued his strong run of form in Japan, and registered an incredible 21 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals in his second game of the week against Osaka.

'Big Sauce' has dropped 20 points in four of his 10 games so far in the B. League, and is averaging over 13 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Chris Goulding shot the lights out in Paris Baksbetball’s second game of the week and added 21 points in just 18 minutes in a seven-point win over Limoges.

Melbourne’s Marcus Lee rebounded from a disappointing showing against Scafati last week to place himself on double-double watch in a four-point win over Varese in Italy.

He dropped 12 points and added seven rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.

Jack McVeigh continued to be a driving force in Heidelberg’s bid to avoid relegation, and added 15 points and eight rebounds against Bamberg.

Milton Doyle and Brady Manek continued their good form for Tofas in Turkey, however their combined 39 points weren’t enough to help their side over the line in a narrow loss.
