NBL Oz Gaming will confidently enter the 5v5 portion of the NBA 2K League season, after a 3v3 Playoff berth and Australian rookie Harry ‘HarryVZN’ Spierings still to debut.

HarryVZN’ is yet to play on the big stage, but will make his debut in the upcoming 5v5 campaign.

NBL head coach Mitchell ‘Mootyy’ Franklin assured Harry’s first appearance is going to shock the league, staying he is a “special talent”.

“I personally am excited to unleash Harry, the kid is a special talent,” Mootyy said.

“I honestly think he moves just as well, if not better than the elite dribblers of the league. I know he’s been ready and is well prepared to go out there and represent Australia too.”

NBL has already had great success in their inaugural season, making the 3v3 Playoffs and proving themselves as one of the best 2K League teams.

“I couldn’t be prouder of this team and everything they’ve accomplished already.  We went out there and fought every single game and represented the NBL and all of Australia well on the big stage,” Mootyy said.

“Before this season started, most people had us ranked as one of the worst teams for both 3v3 and 5v5 models.

“I don’t think those aged well seeing that we made every tournament on stage, qualified for 3v3 Playoffs, have taken home over $30,000 already and finished seventh overall. I’d say that’s not too bad for a brand-new expansion team built from scratch.

“I think it also says a lot that the two teams in the 3v3 Finals were the ones who knocked us out the Playoffs."

Heading into the 5v5 on May 23, Mootyy reiterated NBL will have instant success and will continue to embrace their ‘Down Under Dogs’ mentality.

“We have plenty to build off and a ton of momentum to carry into 5v5. What’s scary is that we’ve been saying collectively for months that we are a better 5v5 team than 3v3. I think a lot of people will be shocked when they watch how well the guy's mesh together once fives start,” Mootyy said.

“Our team has that rare X factor that most organizations seek out, all five players being bought in and wanting to hoop with each other. I think this team checks all the boxes in the little things needed to be successful and have all the capabilities to be great.

“Majority will be shocked again when we have instant success, but we won’t be, we expect it.”.

NBL Oz Gaming will make their first 5v5 appearance on May 23 against Heat Check Gaming.
